Rebranding Zeald, an iconic New Zealand website company reaching it’s 20 year anniversary.

Rebranding is an important step for any company, and for Zeald, a website company based in New Zealand, it was no different. With over 20 years in the industry, the company knew it was time for a fresh look and a new brand that could better represent the company's mission and values.

To achieve this goal, Zeald turned to Mata, that won the pitch to design the new brand. The design process was led by Hanna Metz, who worked closely with Matthew Allen of Mata to create a new concept that would be both modern and effective.

The first design concept was promising but ultimately didn't make the cut due to one board member. This meant working directly with them to find a solution. So, a new round of design concepts were developed, and from those, the new brand emerged. The new brand features a unique Z shape with a rounded, app-style logo that uses teal colors and has a modern, professional look.

One of the key elements of the new brand is its clear and impactful brand voice. Matthew and Hanna worked together to ensure that the brand voice was clear, with a strong hierarchy and a message that would resonate with the company's target audience. This new brand voice will help the company to better communicate its message and mission to its customers.

What is brand voice? It’s how the brand is seen through social posts on LinkedIn, website copy and visuals and general social placements like Facebook and other social channels. It’s the way the posts look, how the messages are written and how the hierarchical balance works together.

Overall, the rebranding of Zeald was a success. The new brand and brand voice will help the company to better connect with its customers and stand out in the competitive world of website design and development. With the new brand and brand voice, Zeald is well-positioned to continue to help its customers build websites, eCommerce sites, and more for many years to come.

Many thanks to my network, especially Shay Wright for putting my name forward, Hanna Metz for working so closely with me, being my go to and support from so far away and making me feel like part of the team, David Kelly for being positive at every step, and finally to Hamish Braddick for being 100% honest and upfront, challenging us all to do better and work on the brand meeting a mature brand voice.
