Savour Vegan Cheese packaging update

As the demand for Savour’s products continues to grow, so too do the challenges facing production. The existing new packaging less than 3 years old had to be phased out, and replaced by locally supplied packaging that can effectively protect and preserve their products.

For the vegan brand Savour, due to supply chain issues an updated solution was needed to meet packaging challenges. I designed a new and updated die-guide again. A new packaging design that combines a similar cardboard sleeve with a new gas-flushed plastic pottle.

Savour has always been committed to using packaging that is both functional and sustainable. Stepping away from bulky glass and vacuum sealed boxed products.

However, as the demand for vegan / plant based / dairy free products continues to grow, they have encountered new challenges when it comes to packaging. One of these challenges is the need to protect delicate and perishable products, such as plant-based butter and cheeses, from air. This meant changing three years ago, and now updating the hardware to fit a new locally sourced pottle to continue the gas flushing system keeping products fresh for longer.

I designed the new packaging which is a cardboard sleeve that is made to fit over the gas-flushed plastic potlle. The design not only provides an extra layer of protection, helping to ensure that the contents stay fresh for longer, but it also provides a better fit than traditional cardboard boxes. The improved fit designed in the last iteration is done here again.

Millimeters of adjustments helps to prevent the contents from shifting during transport, improve handling and also reduces the amount of packaging materials needed. Before use, the sleeves can be folded flat using the fold-flat crease, further helping save space in production. The sleeve allows the products to be displayed in either flat or standing positions.

The design builds on the last update to more clearly communicate the brand's commitment to quality and innovation. The sleeve allows a beautiful view of the ingredients used in the products and includes information about the brand's commitment to using natural plant based ingredients.

Savour's new packaging is a great example of how a brand can find the best fit with limited solutions. By using a combination of innovative design and locally sourced production, they have been able to create a packaging solution that not only protects their products, enhances the consumer experience while also being commercially sustainable for Savour.

Award Winning Success

As the demand for quality vegan products continues to grow, we can expect to see more brands following in Savour's footsteps and finding innovative ways to address packaging challenges.
